5Things you can list

Why sellers stay

The things our sellers tell us actually matter, in the order they tell us.

You keep 100%

A GH₵ 500 sale puts GH₵ 500 in your pocket. We don’t skim the sale, and we never will. It’s the promise the whole business is built on.

Paid the way Ghana pays

MTN MoMo, AirtelTigo Money, Vodafone Cash, Visa, Mastercard and cash on delivery. Your buyer picks; the money lands in your wallet.

A badge buyers trust

Verified shops carry a badge buyers have learned to look for. It lifts replies, it lifts orders, and it keeps the pretenders out of your category.

Buyers in all 16 regions

Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale and everywhere between. Sell to your street or ship nationwide. The listing is the same either way.

Talk to buyers directly

Kiki messages sit next to your listing, so a question about size or delivery gets answered by you, not lost in a comment thread.

Numbers you can act on

Views, saves, messages and conversion per listing. See which photo pulls and which price stalls, then fix it the same afternoon.

What a GH₵ 1,000 sale is worth

Same sale, same buyer, different marketplace. Typical commissions across the market, and what reaches you.

New

Straight answers

If you take 0%, how does Kiki survive?

Optional extras, all of them things you choose to buy: paid boosts that lift a listing in search, shop verification tiers, and add-ons like deeper analytics. The sale itself is never taxed.

Pricing & fees lays out every cedi of it.

Is the 0% an introductory offer?

No. There is no launch window and no clock running out. Zero commission is the product, not a promotion: if that ever changed, it would no longer be Kiki.

What does it cost to open a shop?

Nothing. The Basic plan is free forever: up to 20 live listings, MoMo payouts, buyer messages and 0% commission. You only pay if you want a badge, more listings, or a boost.

Do I need a registered business?

Not to start. A Ghana Card and a working MoMo number are enough for a Basic shop. Business registration only comes in at the Verified tier and above, where buyers are trusting you with bigger money.

How fast do I get paid?

MoMo and card payments settle to your wallet once the buyer confirms delivery, typically within 24 hours. Cash on delivery is settled between you and the buyer at the door. Kiki never touches it.

Your first listing takes about four minutes

Photos, price, region, done. The Seller guide walks the whole thing end to end if you’d rather read first.

Pricing & fees

0% commission. Here’s the catch. There isn’t one

Kiki takes nothing from your sales. We make money on things you can see, price and switch off: boosts, verification tiers and optional add-ons. Every cedi we’d ever charge you is on this page.

Zero commission is not a tier

It applies on Basic, on Verified, on Hive Pro and on Hive Max. A paid plan buys you reach and tools: never a smaller cut, because the cut is already nothing.

Free, forever, on every plan

These are not trial features. They don’t expire and they don’t meter.

  • 0% commission on every sale, in every category, at every price.
  • Up to 20 live listings on the free Basic plan.
  • Unlimited buyer messages and quotes.
  • MoMo, card and cash-on-delivery checkout for your buyers.
  • Payouts to MTN MoMo, AirtelTigo Money or Vodafone Cash.
  • Your shop page, your listings and your ratings, yours to keep if you leave.

How Kiki actually makes money

Three lines of business, all optional, none of them your sale.

Boosts & promotion

Pay to lift one listing to the top of its category or the home feed for a set number of days. Bought per listing, never on subscription.

Verification tiers

A monthly plan that buys the badge, more listing slots and priority support. Vetting a shop costs us real hours, so it isn’t free.

Optional add-ons

Deep analytics, extra team seats, storefront themes. Bolt them on when you outgrow the basics; drop them when you don’t.

What we never charge for

  • No commission on a sale: no percentage, no cap, no floor.
  • No listing fee. Posting is free on every plan.
  • No payout fee. What’s in your wallet is what reaches your MoMo.
  • No fee to reply to a buyer, send a quote or close a deal.
  • No charge to close your shop or export your listings.

Questions about money

Does the mobile money provider charge me?

MTN, AirtelTigo and Vodafone apply their own transfer charges to a payout, exactly as they would for any other transfer. That fee is theirs and goes to them. Kiki adds nothing on top of it.

Can I switch plans mid-month?

Yes. Upgrades apply immediately and are pro-rated for the days left. Downgrades take effect at your next billing date, so you keep what you paid for.

What happens to my listings if I drop to Basic?

Nothing is deleted. If you have more than 20 live listings, the newest 20 stay live and the rest are archived until you re-publish or upgrade.

Do boosts guarantee sales?

No, and we won’t pretend otherwise. A boost buys visibility. Bad photos and a wrong price will still lose the sale, read the Seller guide before you spend.

Is there a contract?

No lock-in. Plans are month to month, cancel from the dashboard, and Basic is always there to fall back to.

Seller guide

From nothing to your first sale

Everything we know about selling well on Kiki, in one read. Open a shop, list your first item properly, and handle the order like a seller buyers come back to.

Six steps to live

About twenty minutes, start to finish, if you have your photos ready.

Open your shop

Sign up with your phone number, name the shop, and pick the region you sell from. Basic is free and takes a minute.

Add your payout wallet

MTN MoMo, AirtelTigo Money or Vodafone Cash. The name on the wallet must match the name on your Ghana Card, that’s how we know the money reaches you.

Photograph the item honestly

Daylight, plain background, four to six angles, and one photo of any flaw. The flaw photo prevents the return.

Write the listing

Title says what it is, not how you feel about it. Include brand, size, colour and condition. Set your price in GH₵ and say whether you deliver.

Publish and answer fast

Listings go live immediately. The first message usually arrives within hours. Sellers who reply inside an hour close roughly twice as often.

Pack, hand over, get paid

Ship it or meet the buyer. Once delivery is confirmed, the money moves to your wallet: all of it, because there’s no commission to take out.

Photos that sell

The single biggest difference between a listing that moves and one that sits.

Shoot in morning light

Outside, in shade, before 10am. Ghanaian midday sun blows out colour and flash makes fabric lie about its shade.

One item, plain wall

Clear the background. A buyer should not have to work out which of the three things in the frame they’re paying for.

Show the scratch

Photograph every flaw and say so in the description. Honest wear sells; a surprise at the door becomes a refund and a bad rating.

Your own photos only

Never lift the manufacturer’s render or another seller’s shot. We remove them, and buyers spot them faster than we do.

Pricing your listing

Search Kiki for your item before you price it. Look at what sold, not what’s still sitting there at an optimistic number. A listing that has been live for two months is a price to avoid, not to match.

Price at the number you’d accept, then leave a little room. Ghanaian buyers will ask for a discount; a seller with nowhere to move ends the conversation. And remember the maths is kinder here: with 0% commission, GH₵ 480 on Kiki beats GH₵ 520 somewhere that takes 10%.

Say how the buyer collects, and put it in the description. Kiki arranges no delivery of its own, meeting in a busy public place, or a courier the two of you agree on, are both fine, but a buyer who cannot tell which will simply scroll past.

Do this

  • Reply to every message, even the ones that won’t buy, response rate shows on your shop.
  • Keep your stock count honest and mark items sold the day they go.
  • Agree delivery and payment in Kiki messages, where there’s a record.
  • Ask a happy buyer to rate you. Most will, if asked once.

Not that

  • Don’t take the deal off Kiki to “save fees”. There are no fees, and a conversation held somewhere else is one nobody can check if the buyer later disputes what was agreed.
  • Don’t post the same item five times to fill the category. It gets you removed, not ranked.
  • Don’t accept a payment screenshot as proof. Check your wallet.
  • Don’t put your phone number in the title. Buyers message you here.

Nobody from Kiki will ask for your MoMo PIN

Not support, not a “verification officer”, not by phone or WhatsApp. A buyer who insists on paying by a link you didn’t generate is not a buyer. Report it to hello@kikimap.com.

Verification

Wear the badge buyers look for

2,800+ shops on Kiki are verified. It means a real person with a real Ghana Card stands behind the listing, and buyers have learned to check. Most shops are approved within two working days.

What the badge changes

Averages across verified shops in their first 90 days, compared with the same shops before.

Why bother

The badge on every card

It rides on your listings, your shop page and your messages, everywhere a buyer decides whether to trust you.

Buyers can filter for you

“Verified only” is one tap on every category. Unverified shops simply aren’t in that result.

Room to grow

200 listing slots instead of 20, plus a boost credit every month to put behind whatever you most want to move.

Faster help

Verified shops jump the support queue: 24 hours on Verified, 8 on Hive Pro, 2 with a named manager on Hive Max.

How it works

Four steps. A real person at our Spintex Road office reads every submission.

Pick a tier

Verified, Hive Pro or Hive Max. Every tier is checked by the same people to the same standard: the tier decides your limits, not your credibility.

Upload your documents

Ghana Card, a selfie holding it, and your MoMo wallet name. Businesses add their Registrar-General certificate.

We check

Name matching against your wallet, document authenticity, and a look over your live listings. Two working days is typical; a busy week can make it four.

The badge goes live

It appears across your listings within the hour, and you show up in “Verified only” searches from that moment.

What to have ready

  • A valid Ghana Card, photographed flat with all four corners visible.
  • A selfie holding that card, face and card both readable.
  • A MoMo wallet registered in the same name as the card.
  • Your shop name, region and the categories you sell in.
  • For a registered business: your Registrar-General certificate and TIN.
  • For cars and properties: proof you may sell it: logbook, title or a signed mandate.

Why shops get rejected

Nearly every rejection is one of these, and all of them are fixable. You can resubmit immediately.

  • Wallet name doesn’t match the Ghana Card. The most common one by far.
  • Blurred, cropped or screenshotted documents.
  • A card that has expired.
  • Listings that break the community rules: counterfeits, or things we can’t sell.
  • Someone else’s photos on your listings.

Verification happens in your dashboard. Nowhere else.

We will never ask for documents over WhatsApp, never ask for your MoMo PIN, and never charge a “fast-track fee”. Anyone who does is not from Kiki, forward it to hello@kikimap.com and we’ll deal with them.

Boosts

Put one listing in front of everyone

A boost lifts a single listing to the top of its category, a region, or the home feed for a fixed run of days. Buy it per listing, watch what it does in your dashboard, and stop when you’re done. Your sale stays 0% commission either way.

The four boosts

Different reach, different money. Pick for the problem you actually have.

Category boost, GH₵ 25 / 7 days

Top of the category page a buyer is already browsing. The workhorse: they know what they want, you just need to be the first one they see.

Home feed boost: GH₵ 60 / 7 days

Rotation on the front page, seen by every buyer opening Kiki. Best for something with wide appeal, or a shop nobody knows yet.

Regional spotlight, GH₵ 90 / 14 days

Own the top of one region’s feed: Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western, Northern. For anything the buyer must collect in person.

Urgent tag, GH₵ 10 / 3 days

A red tag on your card. Cheap, honest and effective for a genuine deadline: a car you must sell this week, food that won’t keep.

What a boost typically returns

Median lift across boosted listings last quarter. Yours will vary: a boost multiplies your listing, it doesn’t replace it.

Boost well

How our best sellers spend it.

Fix the listing first

Good photos, honest description, a price that matches what’s actually selling. A boost on a weak listing buys you views and nothing else.

Boost your best, not your worst

The instinct is to push what won’t move. The money is in pushing what already converts: you’re multiplying a rate, so multiply a good one.

Start Thursday

Kiki’s buying peaks Friday evening through Sunday. A 7-day run started Thursday catches two weekends.

Be there to reply

A boost you can’t answer is money burnt. Don’t start one the day before you travel.

Read the numbers after

Your dashboard shows views, messages and sales for the run against the fortnight before it. If it didn’t pay, change the listing, not the boost.

Boost questions

Can I boost more than one listing at once?

Yes, as many as you like. Each listing carries its own boost and its own run, and each is reported separately.

Do boosts renew automatically?

Never. A boost ends on its last day and your listing returns to its normal position. If you want another run, you buy another run, we won’t quietly bill you.

What if my item sells on day two?

Mark it sold and the boost stops. The unused days go back to your account as credit, we’re not going to charge you for advertising something that’s gone.

Can a boost get my listing banned?

A boost puts you in front of far more people, including our moderators. If the listing breaks the community rules, boosting it is the fastest way to find out.

Are boosted listings marked?

Yes. Every boosted card carries a small promoted label. Buyers deserve to know why something is at the top, and hiding it would cost us the trust the whole marketplace runs on.

Dashboard

Your shop, on one screen

Orders, messages, listings, payouts and the numbers behind them. Built to be read on a phone at a market stall in Kumasi, not just on a laptop in an office.

Built for how you actually work

Phone first

Every screen works on a mid-range Android over a 3G signal. Most of our sellers have never opened the dashboard on a computer.

Alerts that matter

A new order, a message, a payout landing, a listing about to expire. Choose which ones buzz your phone and which ones wait.

Bring your team

Add seats so your shop assistant can answer messages and pack orders without ever seeing your payout settings.

Your data leaves with you

Export listings, orders and payouts to CSV whenever you want. No plan, no permission, no fee.

Your first week in the dashboard

  • Turn on order alerts before you publish anything.
  • Write three saved replies: delivery time, price negotiation, and “is it still available?”.
  • Confirm your payout wallet name matches your Ghana Card.
  • Check Insights every Monday, one listing usually explains most of your week.
  • Archive what hasn’t sold in 60 days rather than letting it thin out your shop page.

Dashboard questions

Is the dashboard free?

Yes, on every plan including Basic. Orders, listings, messages and payouts are never gated. Insights is the one area that deepens on Hive Pro.

Can two people use it at once?

Yes. Team seats are GH₵ 20 a month each, and each seat gets its own login and its own permissions, nobody shares a password.

When does a sale show in my payouts?

The moment the order is placed it appears as pending. It becomes withdrawable once the buyer confirms delivery, usually inside 24 hours.

Does it work offline?

The app keeps your recent orders and messages readable without a signal and sends anything you wrote once you’re back on. Publishing a new listing needs a connection.

Company

Who is behind Kiki, and how to reach us.

Our story

Ghana’s everything marketplace, built in Accra

Kiki started in 2023 with forty traders in Osu and one stubborn idea: a marketplace shouldn’t take a cut of a seller’s work. Three years on, 2,800+ verified sellers trade across all 16 regions, and we still take 0%.

Everything, on one hive

Most people arrive for one thing and stay for the rest. Seven verticals, one account, one checkout.

Products

Phones, fabric, food, furniture, farm inputs. The bulk of the marketplace, and where most shops start.

Services

Plumbers, tailors, caterers, movers, tutors. Booked by the job, rated by the people who hired them.

Properties

Rentals, sales and land, listed by verified agents and owners with the asking price in the open.

Cars

Home-used and dealer stock, with mileage, duty status and inspection notes on the listing itself.

Jobs

Roles posted by Kiki shops and by employers across Ghana. Free to post, free to apply.

Requests

Can’t find it? Post what you want and let sellers come to you with a price. The market in reverse.

Where we are today

2,800+Verified sellers
16Regions covered
0%Commission on a sale
190,000Monthly buyers

What we believe

Four positions we’ve held since the first forty sellers, and the ones we’d argue about hardest.

The seller keeps the sale

A trader who marks up 12% cannot afford to hand a marketplace 10 of it. Zero commission isn’t a promotion we’ll quietly retire. It’s the reason the business is shaped the way it is.

Verified before featured

Every shop that carries a badge has been checked against a real ID, a real phone and a real location. We’d rather have 2,800 sellers you can trust than 30,000 you can’t.

All 16 regions, not just Accra

It is easy to build a marketplace for Accra and call it Ghana. Tamale, Wa and Bolgatanga get the same onboarding, the same payouts and the same delivery rates.

The price you see is the price

No surprise service fee at checkout, no rounding in our favour, no charge for a payout. GH₵ 300 of goods costs GH₵ 300, and shipping over GH₵ 300 is free.

So how does Kiki make money?

Fairly asked. We sell optional tools to sellers who want to grow faster, never a slice of what they earn.

LineWhat it isWho paysPrice

Every one of those is opt-in

A shop that never buys a boost, never subscribes and never uses our couriers pays Kiki nothing, forever, and ranks on the same rules as everyone else.

Questions people actually ask

Is Kiki a Ghanaian company?

Yes. Kiki Marketplace Ltd. is registered in Ghana and headquartered at Plot 5, Spintex Road, Accra. It was founded here in March 2023, and every one of our 74 staff works from Ghana.

Will the 0% commission end once you’re big enough?

No. Our investors backed the zero-commission model on purpose: it’s in the Series A terms, not a launch offer. If it ever changed, it would be announced months ahead and never applied to a sale already made.

What does “verified” actually check?

A Ghana Card or passport, a phone number we call, a MoMo or bank account in the same name, and a location we can find. Shops selling in regulated categories show a licence too.

How do sellers get paid?

To MTN MoMo, AirtelTigo Money, Vodafone Cash or a bank account: in full, with no payout fee. Most payouts land within 24 hours of a buyer confirming delivery.

Why “Kiki”?

It’s short, it’s easy to say in every language spoken in this country, and it sounds like a market, which is the whole idea. The bee arrived later and refused to leave.

What it’s like here

The honest version, including the parts that won’t suit everyone.

We ship on Thursdays

Every week, not every quarter. Small changes in front of real sellers beat a perfect thing nobody has used yet.

You own the whole thing

Teams are four to six people and hold a problem end to end: spec, build, launch, and the support tickets after it.

Everyone does market days

One day a quarter, engineers and finance included, you’re in a market onboarding sellers. It changes what you build.

Hybrid, honestly

Three days at Spintex for most roles, two wherever you work best. Field and operations roles are in their region.

Everyone holds equity

Every full-time hire gets options, from the field team up. If Kiki is worth something one day, it’s worth something to all of us.

It’s not a soft ride

We’re a young company with a hard model. Priorities move, and you’ll be asked to decide with less data than you’d like.

What you get

Health cover for your household

Private cover for you, a partner and up to four dependants, plus your SSNIT contributions paid on the full salary, not a reduced base.

GH₵ 6,000 a year to learn

Courses, conferences, books, a certification, yours to spend without a business case. Most of the engineering team spends it on hardware and Laracon tickets.

24 days off, and we mean it

Twenty-four days plus public holidays, three months of paid parental leave for either parent, and a manager whose job it is to make you take them.

Pay you can check

Every role has a published band, everyone in it is paid inside it, and bands are reviewed each January against the Ghanaian market. No negotiating for what you should already have.

How hiring works

Four steps, about three weeks end to end, and a reply either way at every one.

Send it in

CV to careers@kiki.gh with the role in the subject. A short note about why this problem interests you helps more than a cover letter template does.

A 30-minute call

With the hiring manager, not a recruiter. What you’ve built, what you want next, and your questions about us, bring hard ones.

A paid exercise

A real problem from the team’s backlog, timeboxed to four hours, paid at GH₵ 800 whether or not we go further. We don’t ship it.

The team day

Half a day at Spintex: walk through your exercise, meet the people you’d sit with, lunch with the team. Offer or decline within two working days.

Before you apply

Do I need a degree?

No. We removed the degree requirement from every role in 2024. Show us what you’ve built or run: a repo, a shop, a team you’ve led. Roles with a legal requirement (finance, some ops) say so in the listing.

Can I work fully remote?

Design and some engineering roles, yes, from anywhere in Ghana. We don’t hire outside Ghana, market days only work if you can get to a market.

Do you take interns or NSS personnel?

Yes. We take eight NSS personnel a year across engineering, data and operations, and postings open each August. Six of our last intake are now full-time.

I applied before and got a no. Can I try again?

Please do, after six months or when something has changed. Two of our current team leads were turned down the first time.

Marketplace data

Category and regional trade data by quarter, in CSV, for anyone writing about Ghanaian commerce.

Using the name and the bee

  • Write it “Kiki”, one capital, no full stop, never KIKI or KiKi.
  • Use the mark straight from the pack, at any size above 20px.
  • Describe us as “Kiki, Ghana’s everything marketplace” on first mention.
  • Say “Kiki Marketplace Ltd.” where you need the registered entity.

And please don’t

  • Don’t recolour, rotate, outline or squash the bee.
  • Don’t use the mark to imply Kiki endorses a product, a party or a campaign.
  • Don’t build a lookalike mark for a competing marketplace, we do defend this one.

The series we run

Four threads, each on its own rhythm. Pick the one that’s for you and ignore the rest.

Seller school

Weekly. Photography, pricing, replies, restocking, delivery. Written with the shops that already got it right, not by a marketer guessing.

Kiki Data

Monthly. What Ghana searched, bought and abandoned, by category and region. Free to cite, just link back.

Engineering

When we have something worth saying. Payments, search, the Laravel monolith we haven’t split up, and the outages we caused ourselves.

Seller stories

Fortnightly. One shop, in their words, with their real numbers. They approve every line before it runs and we pay them for their time.

How we write here

Everything is written by someone at Kiki who did the work: the engineer who fixed the payout queue, the ops lead who onboarded Adum. Nothing is generated, nothing is ghostwritten, and no post is a press release wearing a byline.

  • If a number appears, we say where it came from and when we pulled it.
  • If a seller is named, they read the post first and approved it.
  • If we got something wrong, the correction goes at the top of the post, not quietly into the text.
  • If a post mentions a paid Kiki product, it says so in the first paragraph.

Get the buzz

One email, Fridays

The week’s posts, one seller worth knowing about, and what moved in the data, in under three minutes of reading. 41,000 people get it. Unsubscribe in one click, and we never sell the list. The sign-up box is at the bottom of every page.

Partnerships

Pollinate with 2,800 shops and 190,000 buyers

Couriers, payment providers, brands, associations and builders: if you move goods, money or people in Ghana, there’s probably a way to plug into the hive.

Ways to work with us

Six shapes that already exist. If yours isn’t here and it’s good, say so anyway.

Logistics & couriers

Take Kiki Delivery volume in your city. We hand you the job, the address and the COD; you hand back a tracking event.

Payments & wallets

MoMo, cards and bank rails. We already run MTN, AirtelTigo, Vodafone Cash, Visa and Mastercard, tell us what you do better.

Brands & distributors

Open an official shop, appoint your resellers inside it, and stop competing with your own grey market. Still 0% commission.

Associations & unions

Bring your members online together. We run the onboarding day, you keep the relationship, nobody pays a cedi to list.

Builders & the API

Inventory sync, POS integrations, bookkeeping tools. Read and write access to a shop’s own catalogue, with the seller’s consent.

NGOs & programmes

Running a trader digitisation or women-in-business programme? We’ve done nine, and we don’t charge your cohort to join.

The deal, both ways

What a partner gets from us, and what we’ll ask of you before we sign.

  • A named person at Kiki, not a shared inbox and a ticket number.
  • Sandbox keys within two working days of a signed NDA.
  • Placement in front of the sellers your offer is actually for, by region and category, not a blast.
  • Co-marketing: a joint post on the blog, and your logo where it’s earned.
  • Your own numbers, monthly: volume, conversion and what it cost.

What we won’t do

Not a negotiating position, these are the reasons sellers trust the place.

  • We won’t sell you seller or buyer data, or hand over a contact list.
  • We won’t sign exclusivity in a category, sellers pick their own suppliers.
  • We won’t rank your listings above anyone else’s because you’re a partner.
  • We won’t take a commission on a sale to fund your margin. That line doesn’t move.

How it goes

From your first email to live traffic, usually six to ten weeks.

Send a page, not a deck

Email partners@kiki.gh: who you are, what you’d do with 2,800 shops, and what you need from us. One page beats forty slides and we reply within three working days.

A call that decides something

Forty-five minutes with the partnerships lead and whoever owns the surface you’d touch. You leave with a yes, a no, or a named thing to prove.

A small, real pilot

One city, one category, 30 to 60 days, with a number we agree up front. Sandbox keys, a joint channel, and a weekly check-in while it runs.

Sign and scale

If the pilot hit its number, we paper it and open the next regions. If it didn’t, we tell you why and part on good terms, half of ours don’t make it, and that’s the point of a pilot.

Partner tiers

Where you land depends on what you integrate, not on what you spend.

Before you write

Do partners pay to be listed?

No. Three of the four tiers cost nothing to join. Strategic deals are negotiated because they involve custom work on both sides, but nobody buys their way into a tier.

Can we get seller contact details for our own outreach?

No, and this is the fastest way to end a conversation. Sellers gave us their details to trade on Kiki, not to be sold on. We’ll put your offer in front of the right shops and they decide whether to reach you.

We’re a two-person startup. Is that too small?

Not at all. Our first courier partner had one van and a WhatsApp number. The pilot is the same size whoever you are: one city, one number to hit.

Is the API public?

The read endpoints are open with a free key. Writing to a shop’s catalogue or reading its orders needs that seller’s explicit consent and a signed integration agreement: no exceptions, including for us.

Investor relations

A marketplace that grows when sellers do

Kiki Marketplace Ltd. is a private company backed by Sankofa Ventures, Adinkra Capital and 31 Ghanaian angels. GH₵ 80M raised, GH₵ 240M of goods traded in 2025, and 0% of it taken from a seller.

GH₵ 11.4MRevenue, 2025
190,000Monthly buyers
94%Seller retention, 12-month

Why the model works

The model is deliberately unusual: we take nothing from a transaction and earn from optional seller tools, marketplace advertising and delivery. It means our revenue is uncorrelated with a seller’s margin, and it means a shop only pays us when it has chosen to. The bet is that a marketplace nobody resents is a marketplace nobody leaves, and at 94% twelve-month seller retention, that is holding.

How we got here

March 2023, founded in Accra

Ama Boateng and Kwesi Mensah launch with 40 traders in Osu and a single products vertical. GH₵ 400,000 of friends-and-family money.

November 2023, all 16 regions

Field onboarding reaches every region within eight months of launch. 180 verified sellers by year end.

iOS and Android. Mobile becomes 71% of orders inside six months and unlocks the 1,000th verified seller that April.

September 2025: the everything marketplace

Services, properties, cars and jobs open together. Kiki stops being a shop and starts being a market.

Make sure it’s really us

Kiki will never ask for money on MoMo

We have one number, +233 55 381 2349, and one mail domain, @kiki.gh. Nobody from Kiki will ever ask you to send MoMo to a personal number, pay a “release fee” on an order, share your MoMo PIN or an OTP, or move a deal off the platform to get a discount. If someone does, they are not us, screenshot it and send it to safety@kiki.gh.

Quick answers

Do you have offices outside Accra?

Not offices, but people. Field teams work out of Kumasi, Takoradi and Tamale and will come to your shop to verify you. Ask on WhatsApp and we’ll tell you who covers your area.

Can you put me through to a seller?

Message them from the listing. Every shop has chat, and it keeps the conversation on Kiki, where it can still be read back if there is ever a dispute. If a seller has gone quiet for 48 hours, tell us and we’ll chase them.

I’m a seller and my payout hasn’t landed.

Mail sellers@kiki.gh with your shop name and the order number. Most payouts clear within 24 hours of a buyer confirming delivery; when one doesn’t, it’s almost always a MoMo name mismatch, and we can fix that on a call.

Do you reply on social media?

We read everything, but we won’t discuss your order or your account in a DM, too many accounts pretend to be us. Anything about money moves to phone, WhatsApp on the number above, or mail.

Frequently asked

The questions our inbox sees every week, answered plainly.

Does Kiki really take zero commission?

Yes. Sell a GH₵ 40 bag of shito or a GH₵ 400,000 house and Kiki takes the same cut: nothing. No listing fee, no success fee, no percentage skimmed at checkout.

The only money that ever leaves a sale is your payment provider’s own charge, MoMo or your bank’s card fee, and that goes to them, not to us.

How do I get the verified badge?

Confirm your phone number, add your Ghana Card, and post at least one real listing with your own photos. Our team reviews it, usually within two working days, and the badge appears on your shop and on every listing you post.

There are 2,800+ verified sellers on Kiki. It is free, and it is the single biggest thing you can do to sell faster.

How does delivery work?

It is between you and the seller. Kiki runs no couriers and no delivery of its own, most people meet in a public place, and some sellers will arrange a courier at your cost.

Agree who pays for it, and how, in the chat before you commit to anything.

Which payment methods can I use?

Whatever you and the seller agree: MoMo, cash on collection, a bank transfer. You pay them directly; the payment does not go through Kiki.

However you pay, do it once the item is in front of you. Kiki never holds the money, so a payment sent ahead is one nobody here can call back, see “If something goes wrong”.

My order hasn’t arrived. What now?

Message the seller first, most late deliveries are a traffic story, not a scam, and a quick message settles it.

If the seller has gone quiet for a few days, report them. We take the listing down and close the account. Kiki never held the payment, so recovering money is a matter for you and, if it comes to it, the police.

Can I sell services, jobs and properties, or just products?

All of it. Kiki carries products, services, properties, cars, jobs, requests and full shops, a plumber in Tamale and a two-bedroom in Takoradi belong here as much as a phone case.

Can I change my phone number?

Yes, from your account settings. We’ll send a code to the new number to confirm it’s yours. Your listings, messages and order history all follow you across.

If you’ve lost access to the old number and can’t receive the code, write to hello@kikimap.com from the email on your account and we’ll verify you another way.

How do I delete my account?

Account settings, right at the bottom. We close it, take your listings down, and remove what we’re not legally required to keep.

Settle any open orders or claims first, once the account is closed we can’t reopen them for you.

Still stuck?

Talk to a human

No bots, no ticket numbers you never hear about again. Write to hello@kikimap.com or call +233 55 381 2349 and someone on the team will answer. Send your order number and a photo if you have one, it saves a whole round of back-and-forth.

SAFETY CENTER

Trade with your eyes open

Almost everyone on Kiki is exactly who they say they are. The few who aren’t all run the same handful of tricks: here’s what they look like, and the habits that make them fail.

Scams doing the rounds

Four patterns cover nearly every report that reaches us. Learn them once and they stop working on you.

The take-it-off-Kiki move

Two messages in and they want WhatsApp. Off Kiki there’s no order, no record and no protection, which is exactly the point. Real sellers are happy to stay here.

The deposit that unlocks nothing

“Send GH₵ 50 to hold it.” “Pay the courier fee first.” “Clearing charges at the port.” Every one of these is a request for money before you have anything, and the number always goes dead after.

The listing that isn’t theirs

A brand-new iPhone at half price, shot in a studio nobody in Accra owns. Stock photos, no video, a seller with no history and a price that makes no sense: that’s three flags, not one.

The fake Kiki message

A text or link claiming your account is suspended, asking for your PIN or your one-time code. Kiki will never ask for either. Not by SMS, not on a call, not ever.

Buying safely

Small habits that cost you nothing and close nearly every door a scammer needs.

  • Keep the whole conversation on Kiki: messages, photos, the agreed price. If we ever have to look into it, that record is what we look at.
  • Pay on collection, once the item is in your hands. Money sent ahead to somebody you have not met is gone if they stop answering.
  • Read the seller’s reviews and check for the verified badge before you commit real money.
  • Ask for a short video of the item in their hand, today. Photos can be lifted from anywhere; a video of your exact request cannot.
  • Compare the price to two or three other listings. If it’s far below all of them, ask yourself why.
  • Open the parcel and check it before the courier leaves, especially on cash on delivery.

Red flags — never do these

If a conversation asks you for any of the below, stop. There is no good version of this request.

  • Never send money before you have the item, or a firm agreement recorded in a Kiki order.
  • Never share your MoMo PIN, one-time code, card number or CVV: with a seller, a buyer, or anyone who says they are from Kiki.
  • Never move the deal to WhatsApp or Telegram because someone says it’s “faster there”.
  • Never pay a “delivery fee”, “clearing fee” or “insurance” into a personal MoMo number to release a parcel.
  • Never let a stranger rush you. Urgency is a tool, “three other people are asking” is pressure, not information.
  • Never accept an overpayment and refund the difference. That money will be reversed and yours will be gone.
  • Never hand over an item on the promise that the transfer is “pending”. Confirm it landed in your own wallet first.

Selling safely

The other side of the counter has its own traps.

  • Check the money is in your wallet: open the app yourself, don’t trust a screenshot or an SMS someone shows you.
  • Photograph the item and the packed parcel before it leaves you. It settles “it arrived broken” in one message.
  • Use a courier with tracking for anything valuable, and keep the waybill until the order closes.
  • Describe faults honestly: the scratch, the battery health, the mileage. An honest description is the cheapest return policy there is.
  • Verify your account with your Ghana Card. Buyers trust a badge, and it makes you far harder to impersonate.
  • Report a buyer who pushes you off Kiki or asks you to fake an invoice. They’re rehearsing something.

Meeting up safely

Plenty of deals still end face to face: a car, a fridge, a phone. Do it like this.

Pick somewhere public and busy

A mall car park, a bank forecourt, a filling station: daylight, people around, cameras up. Never a house, never a quiet street, never after dark.

Tell someone where you’re going

Share the place, the time and the listing with a friend or family member, and tell them when to expect you back.

Bring someone with you

Especially for anything expensive. A second pair of eyes changes how the whole meeting goes, and most trouble simply doesn’t start.

Inspect properly before money moves

Power the phone on. Start the car. Open the box. Take the time you need, anyone rushing you through this part is telling you something.

Pay in the app, standing there

MoMo through Kiki takes seconds, leaves a record, and means you’re not walking around with cash in your pocket.

Leave if it feels wrong

You owe a stranger nothing. No listing is worth ignoring your own instinct, walk away and report it to us afterwards.

If you’re in danger right now

Call the Ghana Police Service on 191 — not us

If you have been threatened, followed, robbed, or you feel unsafe at a meet-up, call 191 first. We are a marketplace; they can actually come. Get yourself safe, then report it to Kiki at hello@kikimap.com or +233 55 381 2349 and we will act on the account and hand over whatever the police ask us for.

Every safety report reaches a person within two hours, day or night. You never need proof to report someone. A bad feeling is enough of a reason to tell us, and we would far rather hear about ten that turn out fine than miss the one that doesn’t.

If something goes wrong

You buy from the seller, not from Kiki

Kiki is a marketplace: it puts you and the seller in the same place and gets out of the way. The money goes straight from you to them — it never passes through us — so we cannot hold it, release it, or send it back. What we can do is take the seller off Kiki, and help you not need any of that in the first place.

Before you pay

Nearly every complaint we receive would have been prevented by one of these.

See it first

Meet in a busy, public place in daylight and look at the thing before any money moves. A seller who will not let you look is telling you something.

Pay on collection

Cash or MoMo, hand to hand, once the item is in yours. A transfer sent in advance to somebody you have not met is gone if they choose not to answer.

Never pay a deposit to hold something

“Send me half and I will keep it for you” is the single most common way people lose money here. Kiki has no deposit, and no seller on Kiki needs one.

Keep it on Kiki

Chat through the listing. If a seller moves you to another app straight away, we can no longer see what was agreed — and neither can anyone you report it to.

Who sorts out what

Plainly, so nobody waits on the wrong door.

What happenedWho can fix it
It is faulty, or not what was describedThe seller. Message them from the listing — most sort it out.
You changed your mindThe seller, if they agree. There is no return window on Kiki because there is no sale by Kiki.
You want your money backThe seller. Kiki never held it, so Kiki cannot return it.
They took payment and vanishedReport them — we remove the listing and the account. Recovering the money is a matter for the police.
The listing is a scam, or the seller is abusiveReport it. This is ours, and we act on it.

What Kiki does do

Short list, and all of it real.

  • Take the listing down. A reported listing is reviewed, and comes off if it breaks the rules.
  • Close the account. A seller who takes money and disappears does not get to do it twice under the same name.
  • Keep the conversation. Messages sent through Kiki stay on Kiki, which is worth having if it ever goes further.
  • Verify who we can. A verified badge means we have seen that seller’s ID. It is not a guarantee of the goods — it is a name that can be found again.

Straight answers

Does Kiki offer buyer protection?

No. We are a marketplace, not a shop and not a payment service. No money passes through Kiki between a buyer and a seller, so there is nothing for us to hold back or pay out. Anybody telling you otherwise — including a seller — is wrong.

Can I return something?

That is between you and the seller. Many will take something back; they are not obliged to by us. Agree it before you pay, in the chat, so there is a record of what was said.

A seller is asking for a deposit. Is that normal?

No. Kiki has no deposit system, and no listing on Kiki requires one. Treat it as a warning and report the seller.

I have already lost money. What now?

Report the seller so the listing and the account come off. Then take it to the police with your MoMo record and the messages — that is the route that can actually recover money, and we will co-operate with them.

COMMUNITY RULES

A marketplace is only as good as the people in it

Kiki works because a seller in Tamale and a buyer in Takoradi can trust each other sight unseen. The rules exist to keep that true. The published version is below, straight from our policy team, here’s the plain-English tour first.

What the rules cover

A summary in our own words, to help you find your way around the document below. Where the two ever seem to differ, the published version is the one that counts.

Real listings

Sections on posting things that actually exist, with your own photos, in the right category. Duplicates, bait prices and empty placeholders get covered here.

Honest dealing

What you say about condition, price and delivery, and what happens when it turns out not to match. Fake reviews and invented ratings live in this part.

Treating people decently

How we expect buyers and sellers to speak to each other. Harassment, threats, discrimination and pile-ons are all addressed directly.

What can’t be sold

The prohibited list: things Ghanaian law puts off limits, and a few more we won’t carry regardless. Read this one before you post if you’re unsure.

Privacy and other people’s details

Handling a stranger’s number, address and Ghana Card details, and what you may never post about someone else.

What happens when they’re broken

The enforcement ladder, a warning, a listing taken down, a suspension, an account closed, and how to appeal if you think we got it wrong.

None of the above is the rule itself; it’s a signpost. If you’re about to post something and you’re not sure, read the document below rather than this summary, or just ask us at hello@kikimap.com and we’ll tell you straight.

Community rules

The published version, straight from Kiki’s policy team.

Report an issue

See something wrong? Tell us.

Every report is read by a real moderator in Accra. You don’t need an account to send one, and the seller is never told who reported them.

Email the team

Start in the right place

Four kinds of problem, four different teams. Picking the right one is the fastest thing you can do.

A listing

A fake, a scam, a counterfeit, a prohibited item, or something in the wrong category. Use the form below. It goes straight to moderation.

A message or a person

Harassment, abuse or a stranger asking you to pay off Kiki. Report it from the conversation itself, so the thread comes with it as evidence.

A payment

Money left your MoMo wallet or card and the order didn’t arrive. Call +233 55 381 2349, payments are handled by people, not a queue.

A bug on the site

Something broken, slow or plain wrong. Write to hello@kikimap.com and say what you were doing when it happened.

If someone is in danger, don’t start here

Call the Ghana Police Service on 191 first. A moderation report is not an emergency service and nobody reads it at 2am. Report it to us afterwards and we will act on the account.

Report a listing

Paste the link from your address bar and the rest fills itself in. Signed in or not, the report lands the same way.

Copy it from the address bar, or from the share button on the listing. No link? Fill in the two fields below by hand.

The number at the end of the link.

Helps us find it if the seller deletes the listing before we get there.

Up to 2,000 characters. Don’t include your card or MoMo PIN. We will never ask for it, and neither will anyone from Kiki.

What happens after you send it

It reaches moderation

Your report joins the queue the moment you send it. If you were signed in, we know it came from you; if not, it counts just the same.

A moderator looks at the listing

Not a filter, a person. They check the listing, the shop’s history and any other reports against it. Most are reviewed within 24 hours; scam and safety reports jump the queue.

We act on the shop, not just the post

A listing can be edited, hidden or removed. A shop that keeps doing it loses its verification, its ability to boost, and eventually its account.

You stay anonymous

The seller is told what rule they broke. They are never told who told us. If we need more from you, we message you on Kiki, we never pass your number on.

Questions people ask before reporting

Will the seller know it was me?

No. Reports are anonymous to the seller, always. They’re told which rule their listing broke and what happens next: never who raised it, and never how many people did.

Do I need an account to report something?

No. Someone who spots a scam before they’ve signed up is exactly who we want to hear from, so the form works signed out. Being signed in only means we can come back to you if the moderator has a question.

I already paid and I think it was a scam. Is a report enough?

No: report it, but call +233 55 381 2349 the same day. Money moves fast and a MoMo reversal has a window. The report protects the next buyer; the call is what has a chance of protecting you.

What if I’m wrong about the listing?

Send it anyway. Reporting in good faith costs an honest seller nothing: a moderator looks before anything happens, and a report that turns out to be nothing is closed with no mark against the shop.

Can I report the same listing twice?

You can, but you don’t need to. Reports on one listing are grouped, so a second one from you adds nothing except your extra detail. If you have new evidence, that’s worth sending.

How long until something happens?

Most listings are reviewed within 24 hours. Reports flagged as a scam or a safety risk are looked at within a couple of hours, including at weekends.

Privacy & terms

The rules, and what we know about you

The full documents are below, exactly as published. The same ones the Kiki app shows. The summary first, because nobody should have to read a legal document to learn the shape of it.

The short version

Our plain-English summary: helpful, but not the agreement. Where the two ever disagree, the published documents below win.

Your data is yours

We hold what a marketplace needs to work: your account, your listings, your messages, your orders. We don’t sell it, and we don’t hand your number to a seller you haven’t contacted.

We never ask for your PIN

Not by phone, not by SMS, not in a message. Anyone who does is not from Kiki, whatever the caller ID says.

You’re the seller of your listings

Kiki is the marketplace, not the merchant. The contract for a sale is between you and the other person, which is why what you list, and how you describe it, is on you.

You can leave, and take it with you

Close your account from Settings whenever you like. We keep what the law and an open dispute require, and let the rest go.

Terms of Service

Published by Kiki. The same document the app shows.

Still want a person?

Ask us anything in these documents

Write to hello@kikimap.com with the section you’re asking about and we’ll answer in plain words. Data requests, a copy of what we hold, or its deletion, go to the same address and are answered within 30 days.
